  • Description: A young girl, Maria, is hired at Mrs. Elsa’s house to take care of her mother-in-law. It won’t be long, however, before Maria realizes that the woman who hired her is really partying and gambling all the time. She also finds out from the older woman (Mrs. Elsa’s mother-in-law and the mother of Dimitris) that her two sons (Dimitris, a captain, and Manos, who accompanies his brother on his trips) are working hard for a sacred reason: to gather money to get their father out of prison. However, when Dimitris returns with the intention of staying on land for good, he realizes that Elsa has spent all their savings gambling. Feeling bitter, he is thinking of getting a divorce, but Maria, knowing that Elsa loves him, prevents it from happening. Maria herself decides to live with her lawyer, Mr. Pantelis, who has been in love with her for a long time.
